The tu II, has revealed some factors that disqualify an individual from ascending to a chiefly stool in Asante Kingdom.
He stated that, these factors are essential in maintaining the dignity and integrity of the traditional institution.
At the Asanteman Council meeting on Thursday October 16,2025, Otumfuo touched on six reasons for which someone can be barred from becoming a chief.
They include; being a rapist, ex-convict, a thief, physically challenged, a drunkard, or not being a royal.
He emphasized, these factors are critical in ensuring that only individuals with impeccable character and lineage are considered for chiefly positions.
“The Asanteman Council’s stance on these disqualifying factors underscores the importance of integrity, morality, and physical ability in traditional leadership. By setting these standards, we aim to uphold the values and traditions of Asanteman and ensure that chiefs are role models for their communities,” the Asantehene said.
The meeting at the Manhyia Palace was a significant gathering, touching on the Council’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the traditional institution.
His words serve as a reminder to the Asanteman community of the importance of adhering to traditional values and principles.

The meeting was attended by the various paramount chiefs under the Asante Kingdom and was used to settle some of the issues in the Kingdom including Worawora and other matters.
The meeting was also used to announce invitations received by the Asantehene to attend various events outside Ghana.
They include a visit to Seychelles to attend the Presidential inauguration and Suriname for their 50th Republic anniversary.
