Ghana’s iconic Kente cloth has once again captured global attention, as international fashion houses showcased Kente-inspired designs during Paris Fashion Week. Local weavers in Bonwire, Ashanti Region, expressed pride at the recognition but appealed for more government support to protect the originality of the fabric.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture announced plans to establish a certification system to distinguish authentic Kente from mass-produced imitations.
