Emmanuel Kwamena Anyimah, Deputy CEO for Support Services at the Minerals Commission of Ghana, says the government has successfully reclaimed several critical forest zones previously occupied by illegal miners.
Speaking on Peace FM’s The Platform programme, Anyimah, widely known as Ellembelle KK, urged Ghanaians to trust President John Mahama’s leadership in the fight against galamsey, citing recent progress as evidence of commitment and results.
“Our efforts in the last nine months are significant, and the government needs commendation,” he said.
He revealed that nine forest reserves classified as red zones have been recovered, marking a major milestone in the national campaign against illegal mining.
“NAIMOS has been able to recover those forest reserves that are considered a red zone; all nine forests,” he stated.
Anyimah emphasized that the reclamation reflects strategic planning and political will, and called on citizens to rally behind the President’s vision to restore Ghana’s environment and protect its natural resources.
Below are the forest reserves Anyimah mentioned:
Jimira Forest Reserve (Extension)
Afia Hills Forest
Tano Anwia Forest
Offin Shelter Belt Forest
Anwiaso East Forest
Anwiaso South Forest
Subri Reserve
