Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, has petitioned the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts over difficulty accessing the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
In a [petition – LINK] dated October 22, 2026, Mr Aggrey said efforts to secure meetings with the CEO for urgent official consultations have often proved futile.
Mr Aggrey is the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Marketing and Special Duties. He said he usually goes through the CEO’s secretary or personal assistant to request a meeting but is told she is not available.
He said he understands the pressure on the CEO’s schedule, but the situation is affecting work. According to him, delays in getting timely guidance and approvals are holding up operations, engagements with stakeholders and the rollout of key tasks assigned to his office.
The Deputy CEO stressed that the petition should not be seen as a personal grievance. He described it as an attempt to draw attention to a communication challenge within the Authority’s leadership that requires attention for effective management.
He is asking the minister to intervene, a step he said was taken with the knowledge of the GTA Board Chairperson.
Mr Aggrey wants a clearer and more effective channel of communication and consultation between the CEO’s office and his office, particularly when urgent matters come up.
He said that despite raising the concerns, he remains committed to working professionally with the CEO and the rest of the management team. He said this is to deliver on the ministry’s mandate and improve the Authority’s performance.
