ADU-BOAHENE TRIAL: 3RD ACCUSED DISCHARGED TO TESTIFY AS PROSECUTION WITNESS IN GHS49M CASE

The High Court in Accra has discharged Mildred Donkor, the third accused in the high-profile GHS49 million theft case involving former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, after she agreed to testify as a prosecution witness.

The discharge, granted on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, followed a formal notice filed by the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, seeking to discontinue the case against her under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

Justice John Nyadu Nyante, presiding over the case, overruled an objection from counsel for the first accused, who argued that the prosecution should have filed a motion rather than a notice. The judge emphasized the Attorney General’s constitutional authority to discontinue a case at any stage without the court’s consent.

Ms. Donkor’s testimony is expected to shed further light on the alleged theft and misapplication of state funds linked to Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng, and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited.

Her discharge marks a significant development in the case, which has drawn considerable public attention since her unexpected dismissal of her lawyer in July, just before the prosecution was set to present its first witness.
