Ghanaian musician Captain Planet took to X to express his shock and dismay at the revealing outfits worn by some attendees at the recent Tidal Rave event held at the La Palm Beach on Saturday, November 14.
The artiste questioned whether the young girls in question were models or pornstars, sparking a heated debate on social media.
In his tweet, Captain Planet said, “I just dey see some dressings from yesterday’s Tidal Rave. Chale, some of these small small girls, I don’t know whether them be models or pornstars. What the hell is happening in Ghana?”
The musician’s comments have elicited mixed reactions from fans and netizens, with some supporting his views and others accusing him of being old-fashioned and out of touch with modern fashion trends, particularly when the location for the event was a beach.
The incident has reignited the debate on dress code and decency at public events, particularly those attended by young people. While some argue that attendees should be allowed to express themselves through their clothing choices, and in this instance a beach party, others believe that certain dress standards should be maintained, especially in a society where cultural values and norms are still highly respected.
Meanwhile, the Tidal Rave event, which took place over the weekend, recorded huge patronage and featured a line-up of popular Ghanaian and international artistes including Black Sherif, Gyakie, Moliy, Darko Vibes, OlivetheBoy, Shatta Wale, among others.
Nigerian musician Ayra Starr also brought her international flair to the stage as she performed songs like “Hot Body,” “Dat Girl,” and others.
The Tidal Rave 2025 edition organised in partnership with the Black Star Experience (BSE) under the Office of the President, was touted as a celebration of music, fashion, and entertainment, but Captain Planet’s comments suggest that some attendees may have crossed the line in terms of decency.
