The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced the reopening of nominations in selected electoral areas and units where no candidates filed ahead of the upcoming district-level elections.
In a statement signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced that the exercise aligns with Regulation 12 of the District Level Elections Regulations, 2015 (C.I. 89).
According to the Commission, nomination forms will be available free of charge at all District EC offices and can also be downloaded from the Commission’s website between Monday, November 3, and Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Aspiring candidates are required to submit four copies of their completed nomination forms, along with two recent bust-sized photographs taken against a red background. Submissions should be made personally, or through a proposer or seconder, to the Returning Officer of the respective Electoral Area or Unit between November 10 and 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
For Electoral Area positions, candidates must have the endorsement of 18 registered voters in addition to a proposer and seconder. Those contesting for Electoral Unit positions, however, require the support of 8 registered voters from the unit.
The EC further advised interested candidates and stakeholders to channel all inquiries to the appropriate Returning Officer at the District Office within the respective electoral areas.
