The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has partnered with Google to offer Ghanaian students free access to Google Gemini Pro for 12 months, along with 2TB of cloud storage and complimentary AI certification training.

The announcement was made by Minister Samuel Nartey George, who emphasised that the initiative aims to empower citizens, enhance technological proficiency, and ease financial burdens on families.

The offer, which is available until December 9, 2025, is part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, including the One Million Coders Programme and the National AI Research Lab. Eligible students can register via the Gemini Pro portal and apply for the AI training program.

Minister George expressed appreciation to Google for the partnership, stating that it will continue to grow and benefit more students across the country. The initiative is expected to position Ghanaian students to compete globally, enhance AI literacy, and prepare them for future workforce demands.

The free package includes access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Deep Research, Audio Overviews, NotebookLM, Veo 3, and Nano Banana, among other tools. Students can register for the Gemini Pro Plan through designated online platforms, requiring verification of student status through SheerID.
