The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno has been given a two year extension to serve as IGP.
A letter of the extension dated November 25, 2025, said President John Dramani Mahama has accepted the recommendations of the Police Council with the conviction that he would continue with the ongoing police reforms and enhance operational effectiveness.

The letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama indicated that the re-engagement takes effect from December 28, 2025, upon the attainment of the statutory retirement age of 60 years.
