Kwabena Agyepong and Four Other NPP Aspirants Invited to Balloting on Oct 10

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled the balloting exercise for its upcoming presidential primary on Friday, October 10, 2025, to take place at the party headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra. This process will determine the order of candidates’ names on the ballot.

A letter sent on October 7 and signed by William Yamoah, Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, was addressed to five vetted aspirants. The letter congratulates them for clearing the vetting stage and urges them to respect the party’s democratic principles. The aspirants called to participate are:

  • Kwabena Agyepong

  • Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

  • Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

  • Dr. Bryan Acheampong

  • Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum

As part of the nomination requirements, these aspirants were required to pay a filing fee of GH¢500,000, and for picking up nomination forms, GH¢100,000. They also had to submit a development fee of GH¢4 million, all via banker’s draft payable to the NPP National Headquarters.

Any candidate dissatisfied with vetting outcomes may lodge a written appeal to the National Executive Committee via the General Secretary within 48 hours of being notified.

The 10-member Presidential Vetting Committee, led by former Minister Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, submitted its recommendations after reviewing the party constitution, the NPP election regulations, and relevant sections of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution (Articles 63 and 94). These recommendations were reviewed during a National Council meeting held on Tuesday, October 7.

Prekeh Media will continue to follow developments in the NPP primaries and report on any appeals or changes to the candidacy list.
