Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has vowed to initiate legal proceedings against businessman Ibrahim Mahama and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) returns to power.
Speaking on Wontumi Radio, the outspoken lawyer and NPP sympathizer claimed that the current administration allegedly uses the judiciary to target NPP members, suggesting that similar measures would be applied to key opposition figures should power change hands.
Ampaw reportedly remarked that both Ibrahim Mahama and Sammy Gyamfi would be compelled to “keep reporting themselves,” though he provided no evidence of any wrongdoing.
“If the government changes, we will deal with Ibrahim Mahama and Sammy Gyamfi,” he was quoted as saying.

The two men have not yet publicly responded to the comments, which have stirred heated discussions about the politicization of Ghana’s justice system. Legal analysts have cautioned that using the courts for political retribution threatens the rule of law and democratic accountability.
Efforts to reach Ibrahim Mahama and Sammy Gyamfi for their reactions proved unsuccessful as of publication time.
