Akuapim North MP Sammi Awuku has disagreed with Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s call to let the law take its course over sexual abuse allegations against Zakaria Abdulai, headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS).
Appearing on Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo, he argued that the system failed to act promptly when the allegations first surfaced months ago, according to [Peace FM Online – LINK].
The Vice President had urged Ghanaians to exercise restraint and allow due process. She stressed the sensitivity of the matter, noting that it involves the welfare of students and must be handled with caution.
“I call on the public to exercise restraint and allow the law to take its course,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said.
Mr Awuku criticised that position sharply.
“I disagree with her position; let the law take its course, which law, which course? The process started in July; the law went to sleep. The custodians of the law went to sleep to the extent that it had to take a journalist, Manasseh, to revive this matter,” he stated.
