Mumford Fisherman Jailed 10 Years for Defiling 13-Year-Old Girl
A Circuit Court in Cape Coast has sentenced a 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, popularly known as Kofi Nyan, to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old girl at Mumford in the Central Region.
According to a statement released by the Central Regional Police Command on October 29, 2025, the incident occurred on October 16, 2025.
The police said the convict lured the minor into a ghetto in Mumford, where he committed the act. The assault was reportedly captured on video and later went viral on social media.
The case was heard at Circuit Court Two in Cape Coast, presided over by Her Honour Nana Aba Quiba Nunoo. Armah pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and was convicted on his own plea before being sentenced to serve 10 years in hard labour.
The victim was taken to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and treatment before the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Central Regional Police Command.

At DOVVSU, Armah reportedly admitted to the crime. He has since been transferred to the Ankaful Prison, where he will serve his sentence.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for four accomplices identified as Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto, who are currently on the run.
The police have appealed to residents of Mumford and nearby communities to assist in providing information that could lead to their arrest.
