The church should be bold to come out and take directions on who should lead this country, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Ken Ohene Agyapong has said.

During the inauguration of the Eternal Life Church in Accra on Sunday, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong called on the Church to take a more proactive stance in influencing Ghana’s political and moral landscape.

He noted that the Church’s credibility and strong connection with the public make it an essential ally in the nation’s quest for visionary leadership and meaningful transformation.

“The times we live in demand that the Church be courageous and take a stand on who should lead this country,” he said.

According to him, politicians have repeatedly failed the public, eroding citizens’ trust. “We politicians have deceived Ghanaians too many times, and they no longer trust us. But when men of God speak, the people listen. That is why the Church must step up to help this country,” he added.

Mr. Agyapong underscored the importance of partnership between political leaders and religious institutions in promoting Ghana’s socio-economic growth. He said both groups must collaborate to restore trust, encourage integrity, and create opportunities for the youth.

“The Church and politicians must act as partners in the nation’s development,” he emphasized. “I urge the Church to work alongside political leaders to advance industrialization and national progress.”

He also encouraged churches to invest in job creation as part of their social responsibility. “The Church should dedicate part of its funds to establishing jobs for its members,” he said, stressing that sustainable development depends on shared responsibility across all sectors.

Mr. Agyapong praised the leadership of the Eternal Life Church for its dedication to empowering members both spiritually and economically, describing it as a model of purpose-driven ministry.

Reflecting on the event, he highlighted the role of faith in nation-building and cautioned against misrepresenting his remarks on social media.

“When men of God speak, people listen,” he reiterated. “That is why I believe politicians and the Church must unite to achieve lasting progress for Ghana.”

Currently campaigning to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections, Mr. Agyapong has been touring the country, meeting delegates and grassroots supporters to promote his vision of leadership grounded in honesty, hard work, and industrial development.
